Not proper for Christmas, but advisable for distraction

Even though now is a moment favourable for rather light matters I’d like to share with you my interest for cinema of rather tough genre. Generally I prefer European movies but if I was asked to choose the American movies that impressed me the most I would choose:  Donnie Brasco,  Scarface Goodfellas, God Father.
All titles mentioned before are linked by some features they treat: the  problem of mafia in USA, the stereotype of Italian family dedicated men, the playing of actors with Italian roots like: Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, Joe Pesci. I have seen all these cinematographic masterpieces several times and they always get me involved. The problem of the mafia never gets older and what is terrifying, the mechanism of how it works is indestructible.  We can observe a model civils that takes wrong path and the cruelty of mafiosos. What astonish the most, is that personalities of the main protagonists, merge a violence against their victim with a tenderness and limitless devotions to their family. We can observe Michele Corleone and Vito Corleone how loving fathers they are. There are several, very moving scenes which show the extremal gentiles of these unhuman murders. It is incredible, how contradictory the human’s nature is!
On the deep level of the film, there is a moral lessen of the right and wrong to learn. Fortunately there is also very light aspect of the mafia American cinema. It is a brilliant playing by actors that express  bright sense of humour, irony, intelligence. Finally,  we can here a soft Italian-Sicilian acent of in some scens that gives the authenticity to the background of the story. In the end I must say that Robert De Niro and  Al Pacino are among my favourite actors since they are able to perform the highly subtle emotions and feelings. De Niro, in my opinion, has also a unic comic talent.
So, after a copious Christmas dinner and a little walk for digestion, let you enjoy the classics of the American cinema. Have a good time.
